We can't control nature—and that's what makes it an adventure! But don't worry, the wave conditions are usually very consistent this time of year.
If it's flat or too stormy, we'll simply do something else: skate training, other water sports, trips to local villages or towns, yoga, or other physical activities. But don't worry, we'll make up for missed sessions on the other days!
Yes, that's usually possible! The camps/ hotels are usually open before and after the retreat. If space is available, you're welcome to arrive a few days early or stay longer—perhaps even with a new surf buddy.
I encourage you to extend your stay – also for the sake of the environment. Why not explore some more surf spots in the area? I'm happy to help you with tips and contacts to plan your mini surf trip.
Yes! If you want to save yourself the stress of planning, you can book through my partner Surfwise Travel . They're a Swiss surf travel agency that organizes your flights, travel insurance, transfers, and all the information you need for a smooth trip.
Yes. To ensure all participants can progress, everyone should be at a similar surf level. Each retreat has its own requirements.
I've divided surfing into 5 levels – this will help you better assess whether the retreat is a good fit for your skill level. Check your surfing level here ( link to "What's my level?").
If you have the opportunity, practice your paddling strength beforehand—preferably in the sea, a lake, or a river. This way, your arms won't be quite as tired during the first few days.
If you're already physically in a good shape, that's already a great basis for the surf trip. You'll quickly get used to the paddling.
I strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. It will protect you if you have to (partially) cancel your trip and don't receive a refund from Joyride.
It usually also covers medical emergencies, lost luggage, and theft – and it shouln't cost much.
Since policies vary greatly from country to country, I can't recommend a specific one—but trust me, it's worth it.
Please read the full cancellation policy here. I recommend all participants purchase travel insurance. In case of no-show, the full amount will be charged. Refunds are not available in cases of accident or illness—this will need to be covered by your insurance.

Between 89 and 60 days before departure: 70% refund
